This light tan lamp is of the frog shape, being ovoid of body with the medium pierced nozzle extending from one side. The pierced fill hole is well forward on the lamp and is surrounded by a design consisting of two palm fronds and four bumps. A hole in the upper portion of the lamp was probably caused by the presence of an imperfection at the time of manufacture. Shape: Round-bodied lamp with flat base and short, rounded nozzle; central fill hole; no handle. Decoration: Relief decoration on top surrounding fill hole -- set off by raised ridge; two fronds with incised leaves, perhaps knotted at top opposite nozzle; four round relief berries or other fruit. Inscriptions: Potter's mark on bottom. Condition: Intact except for large chip in relief decoration on top; small hole in body; few small nicks; condition overall fairly good.
