This pendant-shaped, red, fictile lamp has a short and broad voluted nozzle. The pierced fill hole is slightly recessed. The fill hole is surrounded by a rosary of large, dangling beads. The bottom bears a potter's mark. Shape: Round-bodied lamp, truncated on one side; slight ring base set off by circular groove; pair of curved grooves on underside where nozzle joins; sharply carinated profile; concave discus with central fill hole; extended rounded nozzle. Decoration: Relief decoration on top consisting of pair of stylized volutes flanking nozzle; band of chevrons on nozzle axis; narrow band of radiating petals on shoulder, rounded and containing impressed dots; this overlays a broader band of longer, radiating petals. Inscriptions: Potter's mark on base (alpha?). Condition: Intact; very worn; burnt around wick hole.
