This orange, fictile lamp covered by a red slip, has a recessed top which is decorated by a simple line design. The medium nozzle is voluted and pointed. The entire central portion of the discus is missing. Lacks a handle. Shape: Round bodied lamp with slight ring base set off by inner and outer circular grooves; rounded body profile; concave discus that extends to edges of lamp; central fill hole -- broken away; extended nozzle with triangular termination. Decoration: Reddish slip on all surfaces (10 R 5/6 red).  Relief decoration on discus consisting of concentric circular ridges near fill hole (at least 2); two concentric ridges at outer edge; radiating ridges and grooves on discus; pair of volutes flanking nozzle that taper into ridges extending down sides of body. Inscriptions: None. Condition: Nearly complete; missing large piece from center of discus; slip worn; encrusted; burnt around wick hole.
